Lou Calabrese is a feisty redhead with lots of talent and success as a blockbuster film screenwriter. She has had less success in her love life. That's ok -- she is young, fun and funny, a terrific heroine. Like Finnula in "Ransom My Heart," also by Meg Cabot, Lou has a strong personality that fills a room. Even leading man, gorgeous Jack Townsend has to have snappy dialogue and try to stay a step ahead of her in order to hold his own on the page.

Lou and Jack have a history -- she writes, and he says her lines, except when he disagrees with a line. In one infamous instance, he changes a line of hers to something catchier, and it comes to define his character. In quiet retaliation, Lou writes scenes for Jack that take place in remote, inhospitable climates, often subjecting him to some mild torture, frequently with him naked.

When Lou and Jack find themselves stranded on a snowy mountainside outside Anchorage, Alaska, the chemistry they share competes with their mutual animosity. It is our pleasure as readers to see if they can work things out and save themselves in the process.

She Went All the Way Meg Cabot 9780060085445 Books Reviews

Better written than the general run of romance novels, and with an engaging chemistry between the leads. The "bad guys" behave so stupidly that it pulled me out of the story, however. I kept thinking of how they should have proceeded -- how any halfway reasonable group would have proceeded -- and noting how it would have ended the book quite early. > Still, I enjoyed this.
As Meg Cabot's self described biggest fan I have not only read most of her books, but also thoroughly enjoyed them. Whether it was getting lost in the royal world of The Princess Diaries, the supernatural world of The Mediator series, following Lizzie Nichols quest for love in Queen of Babble, or laughing along with Heather Wells as she tries to solve yet another mystery, I have adored and loved Meg Cabot's writing. However, She Went All the Way did not compare to her other works. Granted, I read She Went All the Way after all the above books mentioned, so the bar has been set pretty high.
The story follows Lou Calabrese, a screenwriter and Jack Townsend, an actor loved by the American public. When Lou's ex runs off and marries Jack's ex, the already awkward relationship between the two gets even more uncomfortable. So, of course the two are scheduled on the same helicopter to Alaska where Jack is filming a movie written by Lou. When the pilot's failed attempt to murder Jack crashes the helicopter, Lou and Jack are forced to trek through the arctic in order to survive. Along the way, the two feuding parties learn they have to work together in order to survive, and try to ignore the growing chemistry between them. While this seems like an interesting plot, the delivery is just not believable. The story starts to drag in the middle and each day in the arctic is the same as before, wake up to gun shots, avoid gun shots, miraculously find shelter just as night falls, repeat. While it's obvious that Lou and Jack despise each other, their fighting becomes annoying and tiresome. I put the book down for a few days because I couldn't get through it.
I'm not saying you shouldn't read it. Once I got past all the repeating dialogue and plots, it turned out to by an okay book. Just be warned- it's not Meg Cabot's best.
Like most of Cabots books this was a quick fun read, but as someone who spends most of the year in Alaska I'm wondering if she has ever actually been there. I'm thinking that being stranded in the winter without adequate clothing would be a lot more painful than it is made to seem and the chances of finding a hunting cabin with running water are slim to none. And those are just two examples. Usually her books are well researched, but in this case it seems like the characters are acting in front of a green screen. On the plus side, the characters are fun and interesting.
Let me tell you something about She Went All the Way IT ROCKS!

It's so funny.

Lou - as succesful screenwriter -thinks nothing could get worse in her life, I mean, her actor boyfriend of ten years just eloped with an air head actress, and she is stuck in Alaska were she has to convince the director of one her screenplays not to blow a mine. And to get down to the set she has to share a ride with actor Jack, ex boyfriend of the actress with whom Lou's ex eloped with and star of the movie Lou wrote. Did I mention that Lou and Jack don't get a long one single bit?

Well, things look pretty bad already, and they do get worst when the pilot tries to shoot Jack and the helicopter ends up going down, leaving Lou and Jack alone in the frosty Alaskan outback! And things are just starting.

Follow them in their ride scapeing armed assasins and their search of safety. And their final realization of why they really do fight as much as they do.

Read it, you won't be dissapointed. THis book has it all!

And the Ending it's AWSOME!!!!!!!!
This book turned out to be pretty cute and entertaining as long as you can get past the first 50 pages are so. Cabot hits her stride through the middle of the novel and that's when I finally got to see the writing from her that I am familiar with. This book has a terrible start but all and all it's a fun read. I hated the characters at first because they lacked depth but as the book went on I fell in love with Lou and Jack. I think this book could have stood someone telling Cabot that she needed to pick one or two voices to focus her attention on instead of the constant switch which really did take away from the story. I would recommended this book but with the warning that the terribleness of the beginning leads to greater pastures then I originally thought it would!
