Having read the other books in the Royal Wedding Series, I was anticipating liking this book. I was not wrong. I enjoyed reading Colin and Avery's story and them finding their way back to their true love. I laughed, I cried, I yelled. I liked how the characters sought God's will and direction in their lives. As part of a series, I would recommend reading them in order to get the full story, but you could always read this alone as it does tell some of the backstory. I started this book in the morning and had it done by late afternoon. I didn't want to put it down and the story flowed smoothly for me. The epilogue did a nice job of wrapping up the story lines and telling the rest of the story.I received a free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own and voluntarily given. No compensation was received.

A Royal Christmas Wedding Royal Wedding Series edition by Rachel Hauck Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
A Royal Christmas Wedding is a charming fairytale about a prince finding true love again, with the same girl he fell in love with the first time!
Prince Colin was a college man, too young to fall passionately in love with Avery, but fall passionately in love with her he does. Both his youth and desire to please his father keep him from declaring his love, leaving Avery with a broken heart. Years later, he realizes his mistake, but doubts Avery could still love him after all the years that have passed.
Avery had my sympathies from the start. Her ability to forgive Colin is commendable, if not rushed, considering how he kept his distance from her. Once Colin finally makes up his mind to pursue her, he's willing to risk everything, including public humiliation and rejection to win her heart. All I could think was, it's about time, and then I was cheering him on! I loved that he was willing to lay his heart on the line for Avery, following the age old tradition of ringing the bell for the one he loved.
There was an element of fantasy that took me by surprise, but provided some charming moments and connections to past generations.
The epilogue ties up the series nicely, giving an overview of the happy-ever-after endings for all the royals in the Brighton Kingdom. I appreciate Zondervan making a copy of A Royal Christmas Wedding available for review.
I absolutely love Rachel Hauck. My favorite of this series was the first one--Once Upon a Prince--and my favorite character was Avery. So I was looking forward to reading this story about Avery. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed in this story. I felt that I never fully got to know Colin well, and he came off as a teeny bit spineless. As for Avery, she was so funny in Once Upon a Prince, but not nearly as much in this one (granted, she had been through a couple of sad times). As another reviewer said, the beginning really dragged, but the end did pick up. Also, the very end included an epilogue of snippets about the whole royal family--how many children each had, etc., and I would have preferred to leave that to the imagination. Regardless of this book, though, I will eventually read all of Rachel Hauck's books. I love the spiritual depth of her stories. I follow her on Facebook and subscribe to her newsletter, and I enjoy her down-to-earth, funny personality. (Oh, and if you read this book, look for references to Prince Tony and Princess Rachel; she wrote herself and her husband into the story! Love that fun wink-wink to the readers!)
I am a huge fan of Rachel’s, and have absolutely LOVED all of the previous books in this series, so I was super excited when I found out she was working on a book that told Avery’s story. I had been hoping for a long time that she would continue writing books set in Brighton Kingdom, and I was not disappointed with this one, although I wish it could have been longer!
Avery Truitt is definitely one of my favorite characters from this series. She’s sweet, and enthusiastic, and just all around fun, and I couldn’t help but love her, so much that I hated it for her when I read about the injury that finished her volleyball career. But, that was just a bump in the road to God’s ultimate plan for her life, and I’m extremely glad she didn’t let it sideline her too much. Instead, she just picked herself up and decided to become a coach, and although that itself wasn’t what brought her back to Colin, I still think it was a good decision in the end. Anyway, I couldn’t help but feel for her as she struggled through her still-strong-after-all-these-years feelings for Colin, but I have to say, I was rooting for them to get back together all along.
Prince Colin is by far one of my favorite of the Brighton princes. He is sweet, and thoughtful, and just all around wonderful. He is also super respectful of his father, which I just think is the cutest thing, and I just loved getting to find out all about the little ways he stayed connected to Avery even though she thought he didn’t. I loved getting to know him and watch him learn to fight for Avery, and their relationship became one of the sweetest things I had ever witnessed.
All in all, I really loved this book, and am happy to give it both all five bookshelves and a place on my all-time favorites list. It is such a sweet story, and I may have even been in tears a bit at the end, so I can’t help but believe that this is another one of Rachel’s most fantastic novels. She always does a wonderful job, and all four of the books in this series are no exception, so I highly recommend them!
