“A Clever chick-lit look at the highlife Brit style” USA TODAY

A fictional account of the the author's real life experiences in the Brit Art world of the ’90’s

From the stuffy grandeur of Mayfair galleries and auction houses to the high octane gritty glamour of the Shoreditch Art World - the story charges with all the energy of a night at the Groucho Club in Soho.

Saskia Williams is earning a pittance as a curator at the Mayfair Gallery where she works & has big dreams for her place in the art world.

She also has some romanticised notions about the men in it & she won’t be derailed by a passion for vintage clothes that threatens to bankrupt her, nor her Home Counties mother determined to marry her off to the first willing candidate.

But she IS about to discover that there's more to the blank white canvases of her gallery’s latest installation & even more to the tall dark handsome man who’s just walked in & written a big fat cheque for the the lot!

Mystery, suspense & love amongst the easels - an insiders peep at what’s really going on behind the fame, the money & the non-stop partying of the Art World.

London’s Art world and its famous personalities are richly embroidered throughout the intriguing story line.

Making The AList edition by Tyne O'Connell Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

A bit of a lard really. Was left behind in my house by a niece and I picked it up one night when I had run out of things to read. I rather liked it, and it reminded me of younger days in London. Would prob. Make a funny movie.
This book is anything but funny, but it is trying hard to be. There are various scenes in the book that try to come across as hilarious, but really are ridiculous and not believable. For example, in the beginning the main character Saskia can't find a seat on the tube, so she decides to sit ON a tourist. In another scene she is caught mid-way in behaving weirdly by an attractive man and as she doesn't know how to explain her behavior she gives him her best "fish-impersonation a bit" instead. Of course, I mean who DOESN'T imitate fish for a bit in order to explain weird behavior? Very realistic.

The other thing is that there is no real development towards the ending, it totally comes out of the blue in the last few pages and the author completely fails to lead the reader there. It just doesn't make sense and there is no story provided.

The book also tries a bit too hard to be Sex-and-the-City-like with the gay hair dresser, who fulfils every cliché that was ever made about gay men and gay best friends, the glamorous friends and glamorous parties in which Saskia, who seems clumsy, insecure and a little bit on the dumb site just doesn't fit in.

I'm annoyed v. much, too, that the author cannot spell out the word "very", but I suppose after having found relics of Sex and the City, we are now confronted with trying to be a bit like Bridget Jones. Nope. Bridget is loveable and fun, Saskia just seems nuts. Not in a lovable way, either.
I enjoyed the wit and the humor in this first-person narrative. Saskia Williams is trying to come to terms with her life in "the new immorality." On the eve of her thirtieth birthday, she's stuck in a dead-end job and she keeps getting involved with the wrong men. Her means of coping? Making lists, but as her lists fall into the wrong hands more trouble comes her way. Through it all, Saskia manages to keep her sense of humor and I laughed along with her as she described her angst in her various lists.
this book is a poor imitation of bridget jones diary. the author has blatantly copied the location the lifestyle and even the catchphrases of the original bridget jones character. very disappointing both in complete lack of originality and also poorly written.
The book was an ok read but the whole "list" thing was just a bit annoying and lame. It also could have ended better
UGH! I bought this book for the and I am trying so hard to like it and I am only 9% (according to ) in the book and I am struggling to continue. In the 9% that I have read the only thing I get is that the main character is Neurotic and babbles on and on about her issues. I am ready for the story to move on but I am not so sure I have the patience.

The other issue I have is that fact that the author seems to have an issue spelling out the word "very". Every time it is used it's presented as a v. and I find that V. annoying and lazy. Come on, really?

Like I said, I am not sure I will finish the book but if I do, I will update my review.
The cover art is different from what I received on my kindle.. so here I was wondering whether or not I actually received this book. But I did. A good read.. I liked it !
love it!
